Discover Valenciennes and the surroundings of our hotel
A river town with its port on the Escaut, a place of artistic blossoming and the center of the industrial revolution of the 19th and 20th centuries, Valenciennes has many stories to tell.
In the heart of Europe, ideally served by the freeways (A2, A23) and major roads (Lille/Paris/Brussels/London), the city offers a thousand and one facets, true to its tradition of innovation and creation, with its world-renowned competitiveness clusters focused on digital technology, design, logistics, and the ITRANS land transport cluster. Numerous leading companies such as Alstom, Bombardier, PSA, Toyota or Daimlerchrysler France promote competitiveness and performance… without forgetting the VAFC, soccer club in league 2 and its magnificent Hainaut Stadium.
Just a 10-minute walk from the hotel, the city center is a real open-air museum. Nicknamed the Athens of the North in the 19th century, because of its many artists awarded the Prix de Rome, the city of Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux and Antoine Watteau has kept a rich cultural heritage. Two luminous routes cross the city center from East to West and from North to South, with the majestic Place d’Armes as their pivot. They allow the discovery of the architectural and artistic heritage of Valenciennes at nightfall.
